Take over the streets with metallic

The Luxury Collection - - Contents - -By Shuchi Kalra

Florals are for spring-summer, velvet & knits for autumn winter and stripes & checks are an all year round trend but what is it that will break all this clutter of fixed trends from the fashion runways and the streets? Well, this time designers are banking on the return of not just the night time escapades but also on the revival of dressing up with something flashy! The Metallics!

Chainmail, crystal mesh and full-look sequins and hard core metallics are ramping up the drama this season. So what is your autumn/winter dressing drill going to be? Forget the downbeat denim and velvet tracksuits. If you want a bold statement in your outfit, metallic is the way to go.

The metallic looks were all the rage on the catwalk ramps of autumn winter 2017 shows. Skirts, dresses, tops, pants and everything in between appeared in metallic colours of silver, gold, copper and more. It was a look anybody would easily fall in love with, the variety of shiny metallic details looked all the more attractive when appearing as art on transparent gowns such as that seen on the Alexander Mcqueen runway, or as lovely prints on knee-length coats appearing at Peter Pilotto.

Decorative tinsel made many of the pieces seen on the runways look especially shiny with their metallic sheen, from golden coats at Dolce & Gabbana to silver skirts at Fendi, Adam Selman and Marco de Vincenzo giving even more in that style. The daytime shimmer from the metallic shine was commendable, bringing some spice to the wardrobes, including those Felder disco trousers. House of Holland’s metallic sheen was definitely a hit as bolts of cobalt also appeared on the runways.

While the autumn winter ‘17 runways are a good place to get your sartorial juices flowing, walking around during the day in a shimmery piece can be daunting. For a long time, metallics have been associated with a fancy, nighttime look, but one can successfully make it into a casual day look as well. Here are some ways you can also support the shiny trend without really looking like a disco ball.

Statement It Up

Spice up your casual day look with this one simple rule; keep one stand out piece and keep everything else simple. For example, wear a black dress with metallic brogues and black accessories. It is the most basic way you can incorporate metallics into your ensembles.
