The medium, or soil, is the next important factor. Like I mentioned earlier, the roots are the source of life for the plants, hence, the medium in which the roots are should be a natural haven. In nature, the earthworm does the job of aerating the soil and providing that perfect environment for the roots to breathe. Similarly, the medium used should be light and airy whilst providing all the necessary nutrients for the plant. A mix of compost, coco peat and red earth should do the job well. Mediums such as coco peat retain moisture making the amount of water drained out much lesser.
