NORTHERN LIGHTS - TROMSO

The Luxury Collection - - The Luxury Collection -

Tromsø, is the largest urban area in Northern Norway and from here several tours are available to view the Aurora Borealis, or the Northern Lights, perhaps the most spectacular natural phenomenon one can see. While one can book oneself on a tour, providence plays a role in whether you actually get to see it. We were out of luck in this regard, but with some amount of pre-planning, you may just get to witness this celestial show. Tromsø also has some of the oldest wooden houses in Norway, with the oldest going back almost three hundred years. A walk down the streets viewing these heritage structures is an experience in itself. We ended our Norwegian journey with an educational trip to the Polar Zoo – which particularly emphasizes on displays for children. Most of the displays focus on the Northerly islands of Svalbard. If you like seals this would be a good place to visit when in Tromsø. The main attractions in the aquarium are the bearded seals. Due to their quiet disposition and intelligent nature the bearded seals are very popular among children and adults alike. Also, if you get hungry the café has delicious eats! People sometimes give Norway a miss because a vacation here can get a tad expensive. But the sheer natural beauty of the land and the awe inspiring communion it affords you with Nature makes it worth every penny. Next summer, plan a trip to the land of the Vikings. It will stay with you for life!
