NLCiL di­rected to en­sure jobs to land evictees

Chennai: The Madras High Court has di­rected the Neyveli Lig­nite Cor­po­ra­tion In­dia Lim­ited to im­ple­ment its prom­ise of of­fer­ing jobs to 50 per cent of the land evictees against the va­can­cies in un­skilled cat­e­gories. Jus­tice S M Subra­ma­niam is­sued the di­rec­tive on Septem­ber 12 while dis­pos­ing of a writ pe­ti­tion from NLC Jeeva Op­pan­tha Thozhi­lalar­gal Sangam, Cud­dalore. The judge said that in view of the counter-af­fi­davit filed, specif­i­cally para 13, the au­thor­i­ties were bound to im­ple­ment the agreed con­di­tions to re­cruit 50 per cent of the land evictees. It was for them to mon­i­tor the im­ple­men­ta­tion of these agree­ments in let­ter and spirit.
