Haryana CM an­nounces CBI probe into Gur­gaon school­boy mur­der

Af­ter meet­ing the vic­tim’s griev­ing fam­ily, Khat­tar an­nounces that the state gov­ern­ment will take over the ad­min­is­tra­tion of Ryan In­ter­na­tional School for about three months

HARYANA chief min­is­ter Manohar Lal Khat­tar on Fri­day said the CBI will probe the bru­tal mur­der of seven-year-old stu­dent Prad­hu­man Thakur, af­ter vis­it­ing the boy’s dis­traught fam­ily at Bhondsi, in Gur­gaon.

Khat­tar also an­nounced that the gov­ern­ment will take over the ad­min­is­tra­tion of Ryan In­ter­na­tional School in Gur­gaon where Prad­hu­man stud­ied, for a pe­riod of three months. Deputy com­mis­sioner, Gu­ru­gram will serve as the school ad­min­is­tra­tor dur­ing this pe­riod, he added.

“This in­ci­dent (the mur­der of Prad­hu­man) was un­for­tu­nate… To­day (Fri­day) I came here to meet the fam­ily. There was a de­mand from the fam­ily mem­bers and sev­eral oth­ers for hand­ing over the case to the CBI for in­ves­ti­ga­tion,” he said.

“The Haryana Po­lice has been prop­erly con­duct­ing a probe in this case. De­spite that and in view of the de­mand, this case is be­ing handed over to the CBI for a probe. I ap­peal to the CBI to in­ves­ti­gate the case as ex­pe­di­tiously as pos­si­ble,” Khat­tar said.

Prad­hu­man, a Class II stu­dent, was found with his throat slit in a wash­room of the school on Septem­ber 8. A con­duc­tor of the school bus was ar­rested for the crime.

Po­lice al­lege that 42-year-old bus con­duc­tor Ashok Ku­mar killed him with a knife af­ter the boy re­sisted an at­tempt to sodomise him.

Con­duc­tor framed, al­leges lawyer

Mo­hit Verma, ad­vo­cate of Ku­mar claimed that his client was been wrongly im­pli­cated in the case. He al­leged that Ku­mar was bru­tally tor­tured dur­ing the po­lice re­mand and made to con­fess the crime which he had not com­mit­ted.

“Ku­mar was sub­jected to elec­tric shocks and given seda­tive in­jec­tions,” al­leged Verma.

250 school buses im­pounded

The Delhi gov­ern­ment’s trans­port department has im­pounded 250 school buses, in­clud­ing 10 of Ryan In­ter­na­tional Group of In­sti­tu­tions, dur­ing its on­go­ing drive against er­rant school ve­hi­cles, a se­nior gov­ern­ment of­fi­cial said. En­force­ment teams of the trans­port department im­pounded 250 pri­vate school buses for vi­o­la­tions, the of­fi­cial said. “Among the im­pounded buses, 10 were of Ryan In­ter­na­tional group of schools,” the of­fi­cial said.
