Haryana CM announces CBI probe into Gurgaon schoolboy murder
After meeting the victim’s grieving family, Khattar announces that the state government will take over the administration of Ryan International School for about three months
HARYANA chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said the CBI will probe the brutal murder of seven-year-old student Pradhuman Thakur, after visiting the boy’s distraught family at Bhondsi, in Gurgaon.
Khattar also announced that the government will take over the administration of Ryan International School in Gurgaon where Pradhuman studied, for a period of three months. Deputy commissioner, Gurugram will serve as the school administrator during this period, he added.
“This incident (the murder of Pradhuman) was unfortunate… Today (Friday) I came here to meet the family. There was a demand from the family members and several others for handing over the case to the CBI for investigation,” he said.
“The Haryana Police has been properly conducting a probe in this case. Despite that and in view of the demand, this case is being handed over to the CBI for a probe. I appeal to the CBI to investigate the case as expeditiously as possible,” Khattar said.
Pradhuman, a Class II student, was found with his throat slit in a washroom of the school on September 8. A conductor of the school bus was arrested for the crime.
Police allege that 42-year-old bus conductor Ashok Kumar killed him with a knife after the boy resisted an attempt to sodomise him.
Conductor framed, alleges lawyer
Mohit Verma, advocate of Kumar claimed that his client was been wrongly implicated in the case. He alleged that Kumar was brutally tortured during the police remand and made to confess the crime which he had not committed.
“Kumar was subjected to electric shocks and given sedative injections,” alleged Verma.
