Nokia starts production of 5G-ready base stations
Chennai: Handset maker Nokia said on Tuesday that it has begun manufacturing of 5G-ready multiband base stations at its Chennai facility to meet the growing demand for mobile broadband. Nokia will begin shipping the product to global customers by next week. Established in 2008, the Chennai facility is the largest manufacturing unit owned by the company. Monika Maurer, COO at Nokia, said over the past nine years, the company’s manufacturing facility here has played a key role in helping service providers roll out new technologies faster. Maurer also signalled Nokia’s intent to make significant changes to its supply chain operations.
