ADDRESSING BJP workers during protest against Tipu Jayanti celebrations on Friday, BJP leader G Madhusudhan lashed out at Siddaramaiah and called him ‘Siddu Khan’.

“Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda are aware that Tipu Sultan encouraged religious conversion hence they prefer to give a miss to the event. JD(S) is in a fix as they are in alliance with Congress or else they the regional party is not interested in Tipu Jayanti,” said Madhusudhan.

Charging that Karnataka is the only state celebrating antiHindu Tipu Sultan’s Jayanti, he demanded the state government to rename Nazarbad, a locality in Mysuru, that was named by Tipu Sultan. “Kumaraswamy had opposed this celebration while he was in the opposition party. So why is he allowing it now?” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the Mandya district administration has imposed prohibitory orders in Srirangapatna from Friday to Sunday morning in Srirangapatna taluk.

The district police also held a flag march in the town to warn anti-social elements of stringent action if they posed a threat to law and order situation. The district administration has stepped up security in and around Srirangapatna town, Tipu’s tomb and other places.

Vehicles are also banned from displaying banners, loud speakers, buntings and raising slogans, bike rallies and bursting crackers during the Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
