KER­ALA’S AIRSTRIP PLAN TAKES FLIGHT

The airstrip project of Ker­ala re­ceived a mo­men­tum with the state govt giv­ing per­mis­sion for Mahin­dra Aero­space to ex­plore fea­si­bil­ity of set­ting up a 1,2001,400 m run­way in the pro­posed airstrips in Kasar­god, Wayanad and Idukki and con­nect nearby air­ports with its Air­van plane in the first phase

Kasar­god dis­trict pan­chayat has sub­mit­ted a re­port to the Dis­trict Col­lec­tor and the state gov­ern­ment re­quest­ing to re­vive the airstrip project

Around 80 acres, in­clud­ing 26 acres rev­enue land and 52 acres of pri­vate land, are avail­able for the project at Periye in Kasar­god dis­trict

In 2008, Mahin­dra Group ac­quired Aus­tralia’s Gipp­sAero, which makes the Air­van fam­ily of air­craft
