Cur­few on, one more killed in fresh clashes, death toll 45

In view of the protests called by sep­a­ratists after Fri­day con­gre­ga­tional prayers, au­thor­i­ties have beefed up the se­cu­rity to thwart the protests, par­tic­u­larly in Sri­na­gar's old city and dis­trict head­quar­ters.

Po­lice and CRPF had blocked by pools of con­certina and barbed wires to re­strict pub­lic move­ment amidst cur­few re­stric­tions. One per­son was killed and four oth­ers were in­jured in fresh clashes that broke out be­tween pro­test­ers and se­cu­rity forces after Fri­day prayers gath­er­ings in the restive Kash­mir Val­ley. Mush­taq Ahmad was gravely in­jured in clashes with se­cu­rity forces in Chur­soo in Pul­wama's Awan­tipora and was brought dead to a lo­cal hospi­tal. Four oth­ers were in­jured in clashes in var­i­ous places in the Val­ley. The con­di­tion of at least one, a teenager named Asif Reshi from Kaka­pora in Pul­wama, is be­lieved to be crit­i­cal. Clashes were also re­ported from So­pore in Bara­mulla dis­trict and Bandi­pore dis­trict in north Kash­mir de­spite re­stric­tions across the Val­ley.
