Speaker in­au­gu­rates staff flats at MLA Hos­tel

Speaker J&K Leg­isla­tive As­sem­bly, Kavin­der Gupta to­day in­au­gu­rated newly con­structed block here at MLA Hos­tel.

Com­pris­ing 5 flats and a com­mon hall, the block was ex­e­cuted by Es­tate Di­vi­sion Jammu at a cost of Rs 34 lakh.

Later, Kavin­der Gupta also in­au­gu­rated Su­labh Toi­let com­plex at Last Morh Gandhi Na­gar con­structed by Jammu Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion(jmc) in­volv­ing a cost of Rs 8.16 Lakh. Ap­pre­ci­at­ing the ef­forts of Su­labh In­ter­na­tional, Kavin­der Gupta said that this is one more step for­ward in ful­fill­ing the Prime Min­is­ter's vi­sion for a 'Swachh Bharat'.

In­ter­act­ing with lo­cals, the Speaker high­lighted the im­por­tance of clean and healthy sur­round­ings and stressed upon them to take ben­e­fits of the cen­trally spon­sored scheme.

Among oth­ers present were SDM South Sonu Par­gal, Joint Com­mis­sioner Mu­nic­i­pal­ity, Kushal Chand and As­so­ciate Mem­ber and Hon­orary Con­troller of Su­labh In­ter­na­tional, Anil Ku­mar Singh.

Mean­while, the Speaker also laid foundation stone for steel foot bridge at Greater Kailash and launched the work for drains at Greater Jammu.

Del­e­ga­tions of lo­cal peo­ple also ap­prised the Speaker about the prob­lems of their ar­eas. They de­manded im­prove­ment of power supply sce­nario, re­pair of roads, bet­ter drainage sys­tem and san­i­ta­tion, in­stal­la­tion of a wa­ter cooler and street lights in the area.

The Speaker gave a pa­tient hear­ing and as­sured the peo­ple that their gen­uine de­mands would be re­dressed at the ear­li­est.
