Min­is­ter for holis­tic de­vel­op­ment of stu­dents

Flags off girls' ed­u­ca­tional tour to Ladakh

Min­is­ter for Ed­u­ca­tion, Syed Mo­ham­mad Altaf Bukhari, to­day stressed on the need for pro­vid­ing ex­po­sure to stu­dents of the State along with for­mal ed­u­ca­tion for their holis­tic de­vel­op­ment. The Min­is­ter was speak­ing dur­ing a flagoff cer­e­mony of an ed­u­ca­tional tour of girl stu­dents to Leh and Kargil. The ed­u­ca­tional tour has been or­ga­nized by the De­part­ment of School Ed­u­ca­tion, Kash­mir, in which 40 stu­dents from var­i­ous parts of Kash­mir along with four teach­ers are un­der­tak­ing a 10-day long ed­u­ca­tional tour of the twin desert dis­tricts. While in­ter­act­ing with the stu­dents, Bukhari said such tours are con­ducted to pro­vide stu­dents an op­por­tu­nity to ex­plore dif­fer­ent places and in­ter­act with their coun­ter­parts from other parts of the State. He said this tour is part of ex­po­sure activities be­ing un­der­taken by the Ed­u­ca­tion De­part­ment, adding more stu­dents will be in­volved in such activities on reg­u­lar ba­sis in near fu­ture.

On the oc­ca­sion, stu­dents ap­prised the Min­is­ter about their con­cerns in­clud­ing those re­gard­ing teacher strength and san­i­ta­tion fa­cil­i­ties in schools. The Min­is­ter is­sued on-spot in­struc­tions to the con­cerned of­fi­cials to ad­dress gen­uine griev­ances at an ear­li­est.

The Min­is­ter was ac­com­pa­nied by Di­rec­tor School Ed­u­ca­tion (Kash­mir), Dr G N Itoo, among other con­cerned of­fi­cers of Ed­u­ca­tion De­part­ment.
