Punjabi Palak is a famous and healthy Punjabi side dish recipe. Made with moong dal and palak (spinach), this healthy recipe is rich in protein and iron. It is ideal for occasions like buffets, dinners or parties. It is a quick recipe which pairs well with chapati, naan or paratha and can also be tried with various rice dishes. 1 cup boiled moong dal
1 bunch chopped,washed & dried spinach 3 medium finely chopped green chilli salt as required
2 teaspoon yoghurt (curd)
2 small finely chopped onion
1 piece grated,peeled ginger
4 teaspoon mustard oil
How to make Punjabi Palak Step 1
For making this easy side dish recipe, take a pan and heat mustard oil on a low-medium flame. Saute the onions along with green chillis for 30 seconds. Put the flame to low and add spinach and ginger to it, while the onions change their colour to pink. Stir the ingredients well and cover with a lid. Allow them to cook for a minute or so.
Now open the lid and add moong dal and salt (as per your taste) in the same pan and mix well. Add a little water and let it simmer for a minute. Turn off the flame and add curd to the cooked spinach. Mix it properly. Let the curd rest for a few seconds and cover the pan with the lid.
Remove the lid and transfer the dish to a serving bowl and serve this side dish with chapati, paratha or steamed rice. Serve this delicious recipe with raita of your choice! jaggery to the mixture. Let the jaggery cook in the pan for a minute of two. You will notice that the jaggery is melted by now. Next, add water to the pan and when water starts boiling, add rice flour in the mixture and stir continuously. Let this mixture cook for 8-10 minutes over low flame.
