Rajnath Singh confident about winning 2014 polls
BJP president Rajnath Singh today expressed confidence about winning the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, and said that his political outfit wants to build an India that is not only affluent, but can lead the world in knowledge and technology.
"We have to achieve our mission in 2014. We have to form the government in India under the leadership of BJP in 2014 so that we can take India to the pinnacle of glory... and build an India that is not only wealthy, but can lead the world in knowledge and technology," he said, while addressing the BJP Mahila Karyakarta Sammelan here. Singh also raised his voice for a Congress-free India.
"You might have seen how the Congress has come up with new definitions of poverty. Those sitting in power have no understanding about the pains of poverty. I would like to tell the leaders sitting in power that if you want to see poverty, don't see it in statistics. If you want to see poverty, look into the eyes of the poor," he said.
Singh claimed that the Congress Party has not been able to achieve suc- cess in removing poverty and unemployment.
"We support Telangana cause. The BJP is committed to form the state. Government should grant it immediately," party chief Rajnath Singh told reporters after attending the BJP's SC Morcha National Executive meeting in Delhi.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya, Arun Jaitley, who also spoke on the occasion, launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh over the deteriorating condition of the Indian economy.
"The Prime Minister is an economist, but there has been a consistent decline in the economy in last 10 years," he said.
Jaitley alleged that the UPA Government has become heartless and is making fun of the poor by manipulating poverty figures.
Highlighting the failures of the UPA Government, Jaitley claimed that the elections can take place any time.
