Da­wood, Sree fig­ure in Delhi Po­lice chargesheet in IPL spot-fix­ing case

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Po­lice on Tues­day filed its vo­lu­mi­nous chargesheet in a court here in the IPL spot-fix­ing case nam­ing un­der­world don Da­wood Ibrahim, his close aide Ch­hota Sha­keel and some crick­eters, in­clud­ing S Sreesanth, as ac­cused while RR' cap­tain Dravid has been made a wit­ness.

Be­sides them, the other ac­cused in­clude sus­pended play­ers of RR An­keet Cha­van and Ajit Chandila, book­ies Ash­wani Agar­wal, Ramesh Vyas, Deepak Kumar, Su­nil Bha­tia and Firoz Farid An­sari and ex-Ranji player Babu­rao Ya­dav. The chargesheet, filed be­fore link Ad­di­tional Ses­sions Judge Vi­nay Kumar Khanna, said that as per the CFSL re­port on call in­ter­cepts, one of the voices has been iden­ti­fied as that of Da­wood and a wit­ness has iden­ti­fied the don's voice and num­ber.

Be­sides them, the other ac­cused in­clude sus­pended play­ers of Ra­jasthan Royals An­keet Cha­van and Ajit Chandila, book­ies Ash­wani Agar­wal, Ramesh Vyas, Deepak Kumar, Su­nil Bha­tia and Firoz Farid An­sari and exRanji player Babu­rao Ya­dav.

The charge sheet, filed be­fore link Ad­di­tional Ses­sions Judge Vi­nay Kumar Khanna, said that as per the Cen­tral Foren­sic Science Lab­o­ra­tory (CFSL) re­port on call in­ter­cepts, one of the voices has been iden­ti­fied as that of Da­wood and a wit­ness has iden­ti­fied the don's voice and num­ber.

The po­lice filed the 6,000-page charge sheet against 39 per­sons in which eight are in ju­di­cial cus­tody, 21 are out on bail and rest 10 are ab­scond­ing.

All the ac­cused have been chargesheeted for of­fences of cheat­ing and con­spir­acy un­der IPC and pro­vi­sions of strin­gent Ma­ha­rash­tra Con­trol of Or­gan­ised Crime Act (MCOCA).

The link court has fixed the mat­ter for to­mor­row be­fore the con­cerned judge for con­sid­er­a­tion.

The CFSL re­port re­lates to phone calls made by crick­eters and book­ies with al­leged links to the un­der­world. They were also speak­ing to Da­wood's as­so­ciate Javed Chutani and one Sal­man, now in Pak­istan, it said. Chutani and Sal­man are also ac­cused in the case.

Mean­while, the po­lice also moved an ap­pli­ca­tion in the court for can­cel­la­tion of bail granted to Sreesanth, An­keet Cha­van and 19 oth­ers.

The court has fixed the plea for to­mor­row be­fore the con­cerned judge.

The po­lice have re­lied on a to­tal of 295 doc­u­ments and 168 per­sons, in­clud­ing crick­eters Rahul Dravid, Harmeet Singh and Sid­dharth Trivedi of Ra­jasthan Royals, who have been made pros­e­cu­tion wit­nesses in the case.
