Mohapatra meets Naveen, Jamir; likely to demit office on July 31
WITH a few days left in office, Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra today met Governor SC Jamir and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here.
According to official sources, the 1979 batch IAS officer, who took the charge of Chief Secretary on July 1 last year will demit office on July 31 and take charge of his new assignment as the Union Fertilizer Secretary on August 1.
Mohapatra today cancelled all his official meetings, just a few minutes after he arrived at the office in the morning and rushed towards Raj Bhawan for a courtesy call to Governor SC Jamir. After holding a one-to-one meeting with Jamir, he later met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his office in the Secretariat, an official of Chief Minister’s office said.
In the meanwhile, Mohapatra will hold a high level meeting with senior government officials to decide the promotion of some senior OAS officers to the IAS cadre tomorrow, said sources, adding 12 OAS officers are likely to be promoted to IAS rank. 1978-batch IAS officer Gokul Chandra Pati, currently holding the position of Union Secretary, Defence Production is likely to take over as the new Chief Secretary of Odisha from August 1. Speculations are rife about a major reshuffle at the IAS cadre after the new Chief Secretary takes charge.
Meanwhile, according to sources, 1984 batch Odisha-cadre IAS officer R Balakrishnan, who has been on deputation to the Centre, will be returning to the State very soon.
