Business cycle stage 01 Favorable business cycle The repository of talented employees is higher than the non-talented employees.

Business cycle stage 02 Challenging business cycle Talented employees leave the organization for other bigger/better Indian IT firms. Since there is a freeze in recruitment in the small IT firms, the repository of non-talented employees becomes higher than the talented employees.

Business cycle stage 03 Again in the next favorable business cycle, talented employees continue to leave the organization for other bigger/ better Indian IT firms. In favorable business condition recruitment starts in the small-sized Indian IT firms. Since there are more nontalented employees than talented employees in the organization, most of the new recruits who get added in the workforce is nontalented. This further reduces the proportion of talented employees in the small Indian IT firms.

Business cycle stage 04 Again in the next challenging business cycle, talented employees continue to leave the organization for other bigger/ better Indian IT firms. In this condition, recruitment freezes in the small-sized Indian IT firms. Thus, by this stage there is very high level of non-talented employees than talented employees in the organization. Overall, by this stage the talent pool becomes very poor in the organization.
