Chimps and bears have a fun-filled day at the zoo, consuming ice lollies
BRITAIN: A set of chimpanzees and brown bears at Whipsnade Zoo in Dunstable got an opportunity to cool off in the heat by sucking on their version of an ice lolly on Tuesday. Zoo keepers threw ice blocks filled with juice and frozen bananas to the chimps as they sat on the grass. The blocks were not only to keep the animals to cool, but to stimulate them as well. According to zoo of- ficials, chimps avoid water even in the heat because they are afraid of it and because in the wild, rivers are used as territory boundaries. The UK Meteorological office said that the temperature hit a high of 29 degrees Celsius (84 degrees Fahrenheit) in London on Tuesday and was expected to rise to 32 degrees Celsius (89 degrees Fahrenheit) on Wednesday, 21 June.
