A melodic tryst for World Music Day Fest 2017

Rabbi Shergill. Musicians Raghu Dixit and Rabbi Shergill along with band Euphoria will be performing at the third edition of World Music Day Fest 2017.

The three-day fest is being organised by Artist Aloud (a platform for talent and independen­t content across the globe launched by Hungama Digital Media).

Starting 29 June, the fest will be held in collaborat­ion with Hard Rock Cafe in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hy- Raghu Dixit. derabad, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram.

The six cities and seven venues will provide a stage for live music artists of various genres.

Other artists performing at fest include Kabir Cafe, Best Kept Secret (formerly known as One Nite Stand), DJ Teri Miko, Dj Paroma, read a statement.

Shergill, known for hits like Bulla ki jaana, Challa, Tere bin, Tu Mun Shudi and Jugni, is excited to perform. IANS Just like it is with the accompanyi­ng instrument­s in the background or with the vocals or beat, lyrics too constitute an important part of a song. In heavy metal music, the style, which was rebellion against establishe­d norms and all that was popular, was both musically and lyrically the antithesis of pop music.

Whereas the latter focused on more upbeat topics such as romance and partying, Metal focused on topics such as war, violence, carnage, politics, drugs and sex.

Veteran American music critic had once commented: “Heavy metal’s main subject matter is simple and virtually universal. With grunts, moans and sub-literary lyrics, it celebrates... a party without limits. The bulk of the music is stylized and formulaic.” Music critics have often deemed metal lyrics juvenile and banal, and others have objected to what they see as advocacy of misogyny and the occult.
