Indian, German designers win park makeover contest
Mumbai: The MMRDA has finalized the design for the makeover of Maharashtra Nature Park near Mahim and pedestrianand-cyclist bridge over Mithi river.
In December 2015, the MMRDA had launched the global design competition for the makeover of the Maharashtra Nature Park, in association with its knowledge partner Observer Research Foundation. The winners were Sameep Padora & Associates, design cell and Ratan J Batliboi Consultants Pvt Ltd, with Schlaich Bergermann Partner (Germany) and Ladybird Environmental Consulting LLP. They will get Rs 50 lakh cash prize.
“Thirty multi-disciplinary teams from around the world had submitted entries,” said Gautam Kirtane, senior fellow, ORF Mumbai, and convenor of the competition. The winning firm will work with MMRDA to further develop its master plan in line with the environmental guidelines and building and construction regulations till the time it can be executed by a contractor.
