Woman hurt as tile falls at Elphinstone
Mumbai: A 38-year-old woman was injured after a part of a granite tile fell from the ceiling of the foot over-bridge at Elphinstone Road station on Friday afternoon. Twenty-three people had died in a stampede on a FOB at this Western Railway station on September 29.
Friday’s incident happened around 3.30pm when Anita Basak (38) was descending the FOB to board a train. Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel said, “The incident occurred on the side of the booking office that connects to the road over-bridge.”
Basak, a housewife, had come to Elphinstone Road with her son for some personal work. WR’s spokesperson said, “She was rushed to KEM hospital where she had to undergo two stitches on her forehead.” A KEM official said, “The victim had come to casualty at 3.35pm. She has no major injury and all X-rays and CT-scan reports are normal. She has been discharged.”
