‘RPF per­son­nel’ held for rob­bing pas­sen­gers

Kalyan: A 31-year-old man, Aakash Jad­hav, was ar­rested on Fri­day for pos­ing as a Railway Pro­tec­tion Force (RPF) per­son­nel and rob­bing com­muters trav­el­ling on long-dis­tance trains.

Jad­hav, a Kol­ha­pur res­i­dent, was caught dur­ing a pa­trolling drive un­der­taken by the RPF to curb rob­beries on longdis­tance trains. On Fri­day, con­sta­ble Prakash De­ore boarded Vid­harbha Ex­press train in plain clothes and spot­ted Jad­hav check­ing tick­ets.

San­deep Om­base, se­nior in­spec­tor of Kalyan RPF crime said, “When De­ore saw Jad­hav snatch­ing a com­muter’s cell­phone and cash, he im­me­di­ately alerted the Igat­puri GRP.”
