The

BJP’s rout in the Nanded-Waghala Municipal Corporation election may force Matoshree to rethink its ties with the BJP, a top Shiv Sena strategist said on Friday. “There could be pressure on the party leadership from grass root Shiv Sainiks to break the alliance with the BJP. The number of Sainiks who think that the BJP’s unpopularity may begin to rub off on the Sena is not negligible at all,” he said. Claiming that the Nanded civic poll result is a “grim warning” to the BJP, he said: “The Congress’s handsome win reflects the changing mood of the Maharashtra electorate.” — Ambarish Mishra
