Burhani trust wins 3 D-properties for ₹ 11cr
Mumbai: The Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT), which is redeveloping the Bhendi Bazar cluster plan, won bids for all the three properties allegedly owned by fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim on Tuesday. The three properties, a nonoperational eating house, a fourstorey commercial-cum-residential building and a guesthouse, with a collective reserve price of Rs 3.95 crore, fetched the Union finance ministry Rs 11.05 crore.
The Hindu Mahasabha, which was earlier said to be one of the participants in the auction, did not deposit its earnest money, and no one from the organisation turned up. Earlier in the 2015 auction, it had bought a car and later set it on fire.
The auction operations were led by R N D’Souza and supervised by P Selvaganesh, the competent authority. A finance ministry source said, “Around 14 to 15 people participated in the auction and we are happy that people are now coming forward.”
