The Times of India (Mumbai edition) - - TIMES CITY -

Mumbai: Taking cognisance of sentiments of its grass-root level activists, the NCP has decided not to invite chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for felicitation of its party leaders, at least till the 2019 Lok Sabha and assembly polls.

When NCP leader and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar announced agitation against the BJP-led government, particularly Fadnavis, he was asked if the NCP has launched a protest against the CM, how it was inviting him to felicitate party leaders. He replied that hereafter the CM would not be invited for felicitation of NCP leaders. “We are not rivals for ever; it is not in our culture. It’s fact that NCP had invited Fadnavis for the felicitation of senior NCP leaders. Hereafter we will not invite the CM,’’ Pawar said.

Amonth ago, NCP was at the receiving end for inviting Fadnavis for the felicitation of state party President Sunil Tatkare on his 61st birthday. Following a hue and cry, Fadnavis did not attend the event. Subsequently, Fadnavis was the chief guest at the event to mark the 61st birth day senior NCP leader and former assembly speaker Dilip Walse Patil.
