Child sex abuse charges base­less: School trustee

Mum­bai: A ses­sions judge on Tues­day re­manded a trustee of a school in the western sub­urbs in ju­di­cial cus­tody till November 24, in a case of al­leged sex­ual as­sault on a mi­nor.

The MIDC po­lice had ar­rested the 57-year-old school trustee on November 7, af­ter the child’s par­ents filed a case. The par­ents al­leged that the trustee, a for­eigner, who had founded the school in 2000, had sex­u­ally as­saulted their daugh­ter on the school premises ear­lier this year. The FIR named an­other per­son, a class teacher, as an ac­cused. The trustee was pro­duced be­fore the Din­doshi special judge A D Deo who hears cases un­der the Pro­tec­tion of Chil­dren from Sex­ual Of­fences Act.

He stood qui­etly, bare­foot, while the po­lice of­fi­cer in­formed the court that the probe was still on. His wife stood be­hind him. The trustee, who has been liv­ing in In­dia for about 25 years, told TOI: “The ac­cu­sa­tions are base­less. I came back from France know­ing I might get ar­rested, I came to clear my name.
