An­other tribal stu­dent from state con­quers Mt Ever­est

Yet an­other stu­dent, Vikas Soyam (21), from a tribal ashram school in Chan­dra­pur scaled Mount Ever­est on Thurs­day. He is the fifth among a 10-mem­ber tribal stu­dent ex­pe­di­tion from Chan­dra­pur to scale the high­est sum­mit over the last two days.The group from three ashram schools was sent on Mis­sion Shourya. Four had scaled it on Wed­nes­day morn­ing. Vikas, a Std XII stu­dent, took the same route as the oth­ers to reach the pin­na­cle at 4.55am, said dis­trict col­lec­tor Ashutosh Salil.

Indu Kan­nake, the sixth mem­ber, will make her at­tempt on Thurs­day night. The other four were ad­judged un­fit and are headed back home.

The suc­cess­ful stu­dents are likely to meet the Pres­i­dent and Prime Min­is­ter in Delhi, and the gov­er­nor and CM of Ma­ha­rash­tra.
