Another tribal student from state conquers Mt Everest
Yet another student, Vikas Soyam (21), from a tribal ashram school in Chandrapur scaled Mount Everest on Thursday. He is the fifth among a 10-member tribal student expedition from Chandrapur to scale the highest summit over the last two days.The group from three ashram schools was sent on Mission Shourya. Four had scaled it on Wednesday morning. Vikas, a Std XII student, took the same route as the others to reach the pinnacle at 4.55am, said district collector Ashutosh Salil.
Indu Kannake, the sixth member, will make her attempt on Thursday night. The other four were adjudged unfit and are headed back home.
The successful students are likely to meet the President and Prime Minister in Delhi, and the governor and CM of Maharashtra.
