Vi­rar girl drowns in bldg pool

Mum­bai: A teenage girl al­legedly drowned in the swim­ming pool of her building at Vi­rar on Fri­day. Ar­nala po­lice have reg­is­tered a case of ac­ci­den­tal death.

In the po­lice com­plaint, her mother has stated Mansi Parekh (18) de­cided to go for a swim in the pool of their Gokul Town­ship home at Vi­rar (west).

Though the pool has been shut since six months due to water short­age, it was filled with rain water. Res­i­dents of the building had used the pool fol­low­ing Tues­day’s del­uge.

When Mansi did not re­turn till 10.30 am, her mother went look­ing for her. She was shocked to see Mansi’s body float­ing in the water. She was de­clared dead be­fore ad­mis­sion.

Mansi, who turned 18 on July 7, had moved to the Vi­rar flat with her fam­ily in May. Mansi was a de­gree stu­dent in a Vi­rar col­lege. CCTV footage shows her en­ter­ing the pool.
