Can you detect objects on tracks, HC asks railways

The Times of India (Mumbai edition) - - TIMES CITY -

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Friday directed the railways to inform within three weeks whether it has a mechanism to find out in advance if any foreign object has been placed on tracks. There were certain instances in the past where the motorman had to brake to avert a disaster, the HC had observed last March, when it first passed the order.

The HC was hearing a PIL by Sameer Zaveri for better safety on railway tracks. His counsel Jamshed Mistry pointed out that despite an earlier order to construct a wall along both sides of the tracks, there has been no compliance. The HC asked railways where a boundary wall was needed immediately and the progress on the proposal, so far.
