Centre notifies appointment of four CJs for HCs
New Delhi: The Union law ministry has notified appointment of four Chief Justices on Friday for the high courts of Allahabad, Madhya Pradesh, Patna and Tripura, besides transfer of Justice Ravi Ranjan of Patna high court to Punjab & Haryana HC.
Justice Govind Mathur, a judge of the Allahabad HC, has been appointed as the chief justice of Allahabad HC. He was earlier holding the charge as acting CJ of the HC. Justice S K Seth has been appointed as the chief justice of the Madhya Pradesh HC. Justice Seth was senior-most judge in the MP HC.
Justice A P Sahi, a judge of the Allahabad HC, has been appointed as the CJ of Patna HC. Tripura HC also got its CJ with the appointment of Justice Sanjay Karol. Prior to his appointment, Justice Karol was a judge of the Himachal Pradesh HC. The appointments of the above CJs were recommended by the Supreme Court collegium in a resolution dated 29th October.
