Cen­tre no­ti­fies ap­point­ment of four CJs for HCs

New Delhi: The Union law min­istry has no­ti­fied ap­point­ment of four Chief Jus­tices on Fri­day for the high courts of Al­la­habad, Mad­hya Pradesh, Patna and Tripura, be­sides trans­fer of Jus­tice Ravi Ran­jan of Patna high court to Pun­jab & Haryana HC.

Jus­tice Govind Mathur, a judge of the Al­la­habad HC, has been ap­pointed as the chief jus­tice of Al­la­habad HC. He was ear­lier hold­ing the charge as act­ing CJ of the HC. Jus­tice S K Seth has been ap­pointed as the chief jus­tice of the Mad­hya Pradesh HC. Jus­tice Seth was se­nior-most judge in the MP HC.

Jus­tice A P Sahi, a judge of the Al­la­habad HC, has been ap­pointed as the CJ of Patna HC. Tripura HC also got its CJ with the ap­point­ment of Jus­tice San­jay Karol. Prior to his ap­point­ment, Jus­tice Karol was a judge of the Hi­machal Pradesh HC. The ap­point­ments of the above CJs were rec­om­mended by the Supreme Court col­legium in a res­o­lu­tion dated 29th Oc­to­ber.
