Signature bridge FIRs: 2 AAP MLAs charged with assault
New Delhi: Delhi Police has charged Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Sanjeev Jha with an attempt at culpable homicide and assault following a complaint registered by BJP MP Manoj Tiwari. The political leaders had got into a brawl at the inauguration of Signature Bridge last Sunday. Sources claimed the cops have also named CM Arvind Kejriwal in the case.
Following a counter-complaint by Khan, the cops lodged another FIR against Tiwari for criminal intimidation. A third case has been filed against AAP supporters after a BJP worker complained of assault. Cops said they would examine the complaint made by AAP RS member N D Gupta. Police officers said that all the complaints are being individually examined on the basis of merit.
“The cases have been transferred to the Crime Branch for detailed investigation. It is wrong to construe that FIRs have been re- gistered against only one person in particular,” asserted Delhi Police spokesperson Madhur Verma. “We have received three complaints against various people and an in-depth probe will be conducted into all of them.”
The Crime Branch has collected the videos of the incident for analysis, after which the relevant sections of the law would be invoked.
