Pvt schools told to keep CCTVs on 24x7

New Delhi: The Di­rec­torate of Ed­u­ca­tion on Fri­day di­rected all pri­vate un­aided recog­nised schools to start in­stal­la­tion of CCTV cam­eras on their premises. As per the di­rec­tion, the cam­eras should be func­tional 24x7 and store record­ing of the past 15 days.

DOE di­rected the schools to in­stall cam­eras with 360 de­grees cov­er­age of the school premises. “How­ever, there will be no cam­eras in­side the wash­rooms,” the cir­cu­lar read.

“Non-com­pli­ance of the or­der will be viewed se­ri­ously and ac­tion as deemed fit un­der the DSEA&R shall be taken,” said the di­rec­tive.

Se­nior DoE of­fi­cials said that spec­i­fi­ca­tions and a time­line for the in­stal­la­tion of cam­eras would be re­leased with the rec­om­men­da­tions of the high­level com­mit­tee, which are ex­pected to be sub­mit­ted soon.

Ed­u­ca­tion min­is­ter Man­ish Siso­dia, on Mon­day, had or­dered the con­sti­tu­tion of a high-level com­mit­tee un­der DoE to look into the se­cu­rity as­pects of schools in Delhi.

In Gur­gaon, all pri­vate schools would also have to im­ple­ment ap­pli­ca­ble safety guide­lines within three weeks — in­clud­ing in­stal­la­tion of cam­eras, and keep­ing an am­bu­lance and a nurse on the cam­pus — and sub­mit a self-cer­ti­fi­ca­tion to the dis­trict ad­min­is­tra­tion.
