Pvt schools told to keep CCTVs on 24x7
New Delhi: The Directorate of Education on Friday directed all private unaided recognised schools to start installation of CCTV cameras on their premises. As per the direction, the cameras should be functional 24x7 and store recording of the past 15 days.
DOE directed the schools to install cameras with 360 degrees coverage of the school premises. “However, there will be no cameras inside the washrooms,” the circular read.
“Non-compliance of the order will be viewed seriously and action as deemed fit under the DSEA&R shall be taken,” said the directive.
Senior DoE officials said that specifications and a timeline for the installation of cameras would be released with the recommendations of the highlevel committee, which are expected to be submitted soon.
Education minister Manish Sisodia, on Monday, had ordered the constitution of a high-level committee under DoE to look into the security aspects of schools in Delhi.
In Gurgaon, all private schools would also have to implement applicable safety guidelines within three weeks — including installation of cameras, and keeping an ambulance and a nurse on the campus — and submit a self-certification to the district administration.
