4 kill woman for shield­ing son in brawl

It was found that the gang had fired more than fif­teen rounds at the moth­er­son duo. The woman sus­tained two bul­let in­juries — one in her chest and another in the shoul­der — af­ter the round ric­o­cheted and hit her af­ter strik­ing a wall.

DCP (north­east) A K Singla said that a case of mur­der has been reg­is­tered and one of the ac­cused was caught from the area. He is be­ing in­ter­ro­gated to nab his as­so­ciates. “We are not dis­clos­ing the names of the ac­cused for the sake of in­ves­ti­ga­tion. How­ever, all of them have been iden­ti­fied and will be nabbed soon,” he said.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened around 11.30pm when the woman Saroj Devi’s son Bittu chal­lenged a group of men stand­ing out­side their house. An argu- ment en­sued dur­ing which the men opened fire from a coun­try made pis­tol. One of the bul­lets hit Bittu on his leg. Po­lice say that Bittu started run­ning into his house call­ing out for his mother with the men fired in­dis­crim­i­nately at him.

As soon as Devi opened the door, two of the bul­lets hit her. The ac­cused then fled. They fired a few more rounds in the air to scare off the neigh­bours.
