Man shot by bikers in robbery bid
New Delhi: A 34-year-old man was shot dead while his brother was severely injured after two snatchers on a bike fired at them in outer Delhi’s Narela on Thursday night. The bag that was targeted by the accused contained account papers and not cash.
Police officers said that the incident happened around 9pm in Punjabi Colony in Narela village. Neeraj Jain (34) and his brother Raman Jain (33) were parking their motorcycle when two people came on a bike and tried to flee with the bag. When they resisted, the accused shot Neeraj and drove away. A case has been registered.
The deceased’s kin said that the two brothers ran a wholesale confectionary store. At 8.30pm, they shut shop and went to meet a chartered accountant.
“After finishing work there, they were coming back to their home in Punjabi Colony. While they were parking their motorcycle, two men wearing helmets came and tried to snatch the bag from Raman’s hand. A tussle ensued between them,” the deceased’s cousin Ajit Jain said, adding that Neeraj got off the motorcycle to nab the accused.
