Woman gets snatcher arrested
New Delhi: A 30-year-old woman chased down the snatcher who tried to run away with her mobile phone in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh area on Thursday. The accused was thrashed by the public before being handed over to the police.
The woman, Neeta (name changed), a teacher, was going towards Kirti Nagar and stopped at the Nanak Pura Gurudwara in Moti Bagh when the incident happened.
Neeta told police that due to traffic jam at Ring Road, she was driving at a slow speed. Suddenly she realised that a youth, who was walking close to her, was trying to pull out her mobile phone from her pocket.
“Suddenly he pulled my mobile phone from my pocket and tried to run away. I immediately raised an alarm and managed to catch hold of his hand. In the meantime, people gathered around and nabbed him,” Neeta said.
The accused, Avinash, was booked under sections of thefts and attempt to commit offences. Police are interrogating the accused to determine if he has any previous criminal record.
