Del-Mum Rajdhani now faster, cheaper
The new Rajdhani will reduce the travel time from the existing 15 hours 50 minute to 13 hours 55 minutes
New Delhi: Aiming to provide faster and cheaper connectivity to passengers travelling between Delhi and Mumbai, the railways will introduce a new Rajdhani Express between the two metros on Monday.
The Hazrat NizamuddinBandra Terminus Rajdhani will run thrice a week to start with and will take around two hours less than the existing Rajdhanis to make the journey. “Fare for this train in 2AC and 3AC will be around 19% cheaper than the maximum flexi fare of corresponding classes of the existing Mumbai Rajdhani,” an official said. Flexi fare will not be applicable in this train.
The railways already runs two Rajdhanis and more than 30 mail/express trains between the two cities.
The new Rajdhani will reduce the travel time from the existing15 hours 50 minute to 13 hours 55 minutes. The train will be hauled by two locomotives for better acceleration and deceleration.
“The new service will start as a tri-weekly special with only one rake and shall provide faster rail connectivity between Delhi and Mumbai,” the official said. The train will stop at Kota, Vadodara and Surat stations.
