Del-Mum Ra­jd­hani now faster, cheaper

The new Ra­jd­hani will re­duce the travel time from the ex­ist­ing 15 hours 50 minute to 13 hours 55 min­utes

New Delhi: Aim­ing to pro­vide faster and cheaper con­nec­tiv­ity to pas­sen­gers trav­el­ling be­tween Delhi and Mum­bai, the rail­ways will in­tro­duce a new Ra­jd­hani Ex­press be­tween the two met­ros on Mon­day.

The Hazrat Niza­mud­dinBan­dra Ter­mi­nus Ra­jd­hani will run thrice a week to start with and will take around two hours less than the ex­ist­ing Ra­jd­ha­nis to make the jour­ney. “Fare for this train in 2AC and 3AC will be around 19% cheaper than the max­i­mum flexi fare of cor­re­spond­ing classes of the ex­ist­ing Mum­bai Ra­jd­hani,” an of­fi­cial said. Flexi fare will not be ap­pli­ca­ble in this train.

The rail­ways al­ready runs two Ra­jd­ha­nis and more than 30 mail/ex­press trains be­tween the two cities.

The new Ra­jd­hani will re­duce the travel time from the ex­ist­ing15 hours 50 minute to 13 hours 55 min­utes. The train will be hauled by two lo­co­mo­tives for bet­ter ac­cel­er­a­tion and de­cel­er­a­tion.

“The new ser­vice will start as a tri-weekly spe­cial with only one rake and shall pro­vide faster rail con­nec­tiv­ity be­tween Delhi and Mum­bai,” the of­fi­cial said. The train will stop at Kota, Vado­dara and Su­rat sta­tions.
