Rushing to leave city, truck kills father, son
New Delhi: A father-son duo died after being crushed by a truck on Naraina flyover while they were returning from Anand Parbat in central Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. The son, Ramashanker Pandey (40), was on his way to show his parents a new house bought by him. The accused truck driver fled after the accident. Pandey’s mother has been admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition.
The incident happened around 1.30pm when Pandey, his mother Sushila and his father Pratap Narayan (73) were on an Enfield Bullet motorbike. When they reached Naraina flyover from Dhaula Kuan, a truck with a Rajasthan numberplate heading towards Rajouri Garden hit them from behind. Police suspect that the truck driver was in a hurry to cross the state border before the ban on vehicles carrying non-essential items came into force.
The owner of the truck has been identified and efforts are being made to track down the driver. New Delhi: The toxic smog continued on Tuesday morning, with reduced visibility in some areas leading to cancellation of ten trains. According to a senior Railways official, 73 trains have been delayed, 34 rescheduled, and 10 cancelled.
