Rush­ing to leave city, truck kills fa­ther, son

New Delhi: A fa­ther-son duo died af­ter be­ing crushed by a truck on Naraina fly­over while they were re­turn­ing from Anand Par­bat in cen­tral Delhi on Tues­day af­ter­noon. The son, Ra­mashanker Pandey (40), was on his way to show his par­ents a new house bought by him. The ac­cused truck driver fled af­ter the ac­ci­dent. Pandey’s mother has been ad­mit­ted to a pri­vate hos­pi­tal in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened around 1.30pm when Pandey, his mother Sushila and his fa­ther Pratap Narayan (73) were on an En­field Bul­let mo­tor­bike. When they reached Naraina fly­over from Dhaula Kuan, a truck with a Ra­jasthan num­ber­plate head­ing to­wards Ra­jouri Gar­den hit them from be­hind. Po­lice sus­pect that the truck driver was in a hurry to cross the state bor­der be­fore the ban on ve­hi­cles car­ry­ing non-es­sen­tial items came into force.

The owner of the truck has been iden­ti­fied and ef­forts are be­ing made to track down the driver. New Delhi: The toxic smog con­tin­ued on Tues­day morn­ing, with re­duced vis­i­bil­ity in some ar­eas lead­ing to can­cel­la­tion of ten trains. Ac­cord­ing to a se­nior Rail­ways of­fi­cial, 73 trains have been de­layed, 34 resched­uled, and 10 can­celled.

ITO sky­walk to have WiFi and kiosks:

PWD of­fi­cials say that the ITO sky­walk will have WiFi and kiosks. Though Union hous­ing and ur­ban af­fairs min­is­ter Hardeep Puri, while in­au­gu­rat­ing the project re­cently, had said that the project will be com­pleted by March 2018, PWD min­is­ter Satyen­dar Jain said the depart­ment aims to com­plete it by May.
