Close shave for fam­ily as car over­turns

New Delhi: A fam­ily of five had a nar­row escape on Tues­day morn­ing af­ter their car top­pled on NH24. The oc­cu­pants es­caped with mi­nor in­juries.

DCP (east) Omvir Singh said that the car turned over near Mayur Vi­har petrol pump and all the oc­cu­pants were res­cued.

Po­lice of­fi­cers said that the Maruti Brezza car was com­ing from a wed­ding cer­e­mony and go­ing to­wards Ghazi­abad. The bride and groom were also trav­el­ling in the car. Pre­lim­i­nary probe said the driver was driv­ing at a high speed and tried to over­take a ve­hi­cle ahead of him. How­ever, on sud­denly ap­ply­ing brakes, the ve­hi­cle lost bal­ance.

Fire depart­ment of­fi­cers were in­formed along with the po­lice. The win­dow panes were bro­ken to pull out the oc­cu­pants. They were taken to a nearby hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Cops are ex­am­in­ing the CCTV footage from the area to ob­tain more facts and are also ques­tion­ing the driver of the car.
