Int’l trade fair bridges many countries: Prez
New Delhi: Inaugurating the 37th India International Trade Fair on Tuesday, President Ram Nath Kovind called it a great initiative and thanked the partnering countries. He highlighted how the fair has been a bridge between several important countries.
Pointing out the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) as a milestone, Kovind said that the new regime has reduced barriers between states. “The world has acknowledged the changed business environment in India and the strides made in con- ducting business. The introduction of GST is a milestone, creating a more formal economy. It has provided a boost to the creation of a common market and a more formal economy as well as a stronger manufacturing sector,” said Kovind.
He further said that initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, Start Up India, Skill India and Smart Cities will help in making economic reforms more meaningful.
Union minister Suresh Prabhu while addressing the gathering said that it is important to build economic ties with countries and grow along with them.
