Three Dawood properties sold for 11cr
Mumbai: The Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT), which is redeveloping the Bhendi Bazar cluster plan, won bids for all the three properties allegedly owned by fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim that were up for auction on Tuesday. The properties — a non-operational eatery, a four-storey commercial-cum-residential building, and a guesthouse — with a collective reserve price of Rs 3.95 crore fetched the Union finance ministry Rs 11.05 crore.
Hindu Mahasabha, which was earlier said to be one of the participants in the auction, did not deposit its earnest money, and no one from the organisation turned up. In the 2015 auction, it had bought a car and later set it on fire.
A ministry source said, “Around 14 to 15 people participated... we are happy that people are now coming forward.”
