Muslim organisations in Rajasthan have extended support to the Rajput groups which are demanding a ban on ‘Padmavati’. Iqbal Siddiqui, media secretary of the Rajasthan chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JEIH), said: “Until the Rajput community, which is well versed with the historical narrative of the fall of Chittorgarh in 1303 CE, clears the movie, it should not be released.” He drew a parallel saying the demand for a ban on the writings of Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreen was based on the same logic — ‘hurting of sentiments’. have censor board, they will take a decision. Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) makes very beautiful and excellent films”.

Actor Aditi Rao Hyadri also backed Bhansali by tweeting, “An Indian and an artist we should be proud of... He celebrates our stories, our culture our music. Despite every trial by fire that we put him through... we love you #SanjayLeelaBhansali more power to you #WeSupportPadmavati @FilmPadmavati”
