Pakistan acted on Wednesday against outfits spearheaded by the 26/11attack mastermind, Hafiz Saeed, seizing control of his offices and financial assets in a bid to implement the sudden changes in the country’s anti-terrorism law, reports Omer Farooq Khan.

The move comes days ahead of a scheduled February 1823 meeting in Paris of the Financial Action Task Force, a money-laundering watchdog that will consider a US-sponsored motion to place Pakistan on a list of countries failing to prevent terror financing. “We have received interior ministry directions … Hafiz and his charities, like JuD and FIF, have been banned,” Punjab law minister R Sanaullah said.
