‘Honey-trapped’ Lt Col held in MP over ISI ‘link’

Sus­pect­ing that a lieu­tenant colonel might have fallen prey to a hon­ey­trap or ‘spear phish­ing’ by Pak­istan’s ISI which could have re­sulted in the leak of clas­si­fied in­for­ma­tion, the Army’s counter-in­tel­li­gence wing and mil­i­tary in­tel­li­gence searched his of­fi­cial premises at a base head­quar­ters in Ja­balpur on Wed­nes­day. The of­fi­cer, who is from the Elec­tron­ics & Me­chan­i­cal En­gi­neers Corps, was de­tained af­ter be­ing watched for two months, sources said. This comes a week af­ter an IAF of­fi­cer was ar­rested on charges of pass­ing on de­fence doc­u­ments to Pak­istan.
