CM meets US en­voy, wants to join ranks to fight bad air

New Delhi: Chief Min­is­ter Arvind Ke­jri­wal met US am­bas­sador to India Ken­neth I Juster on Fri­day, at Delhi Sec­re­tar­iat to dis­cuss the part­ner­ship in sev­eral ar­eas in­clud­ing pol­lu­tion.

Ke­jri­wal told the am­bas­sador about the agree­ment be­tween the Delhi gov­ern­ment and the Univer­sity of Wash­ing­ton on pol­lu­tion. As per the deal, Wash­ing­ton Univer­sity will be pro­vid­ing real-time pol­lu­tion data to the Delhi gov­ern­ment. “The data will help in iden­ti­fy­ing the source of pol­lu­tion in the cap­i­tal city round the year. This data will help the gov­ern­ment in tak­ing ac­tion to curb pol­lu­tion by iden­ti­fy­ing the source of pol­lu­tion dur­ing dif­fer­ent months of the year,” said a Delhi gov­ern­ment spokesper­son.

The CM said that he would like to have more co­op­er­a­tion in ar­eas like pol­lu­tion with the US. “I would like to meet if any of the ex­perts are com­ing to India, to know about the best prac­tices to be im­ple­mented in Delhi also,” said Ke­jri­wal. “We are also open to ideas on any other sec­tor. We can be tech­nol­ogy part­ners in var­i­ous ar­eas,” he added.
