EC to replace Mizoram chief poll officer
With less than 20 days to go for Mizoram’s assembly election, the EC initiated the process to replace Mizoram chief electoral officer S B Shashank on Saturday, reports Prabin Kalita.
Shashank’s ouster was sought by an umbrella body of protesters, the NGO Coordination Committee. Shashank had complained against principal secretary (home) Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, a Mizo, for interfering in the poll process. Mizo organizations saw Chuaungo’s subsequent removal as unfair.
