Air Mar­shal SB Deo is VCAS

Air Mar­shal SB Deo took over as Vice Chief of the Air Staff on 2 Jan­uary 2017. He was com­mis­sioned as a fighter pi­lot in the IAF on 15 June 1979, is an alum­nus of the Na­tional De­fence Academy and the De­fence Ser­vices Staff Col­lege, Welling­ton. He is a FCL (Fighter Com­bat Leader) and a ‘Cat A’ Qual­i­fied Fly­ing In­struc­tor with over 3,800 hours of op­er­a­tional and train­ing fly­ing, and was also Di­rect­ing Staff at TACDE.

Air Mar­shal SB Deo has been AOC of a ma­jor fighter base, has com­manded a MiG-21 Bi­son squadron and a Sig­nals Unit, and was also Chief Op­er­a­tions Of­fi­cer of a for­ward base. Prior to tak­ing over as VCAS, he was AOC-in-C of West­ern Air Com­mand (WAC), AOC-in-C Eastern Air Com­mand (EAC), DG Air (Ops), AOC Co­bra Group, AD Com­man­der and Air I at HQ Cen­tral Air Com­mand be­sides hold­ing var­i­ous staff ap­point­ments and work­ing in Ops/Plans Direc­torates at Air HQ.

Lt Gen Sarath Chand is VCOAS

Air Mar­shal C Hariku­mar took over as AOC-in-C, West­ern Air Com­mand ( WAC) on 1 Jan­uary 2017. He was com­mis­sioned into the IAF in 1979, is a Qual­i­fied Fly­ing In­struc­tor and a Fighter Com­bat Leader, with over 3,300 hours of fly­ing and hav­ing had in­struc­tional tenures at Fighter Train­ing Wing (FTW), Tac­tics and Air Com­bat De­vel­op­ment Estab­lish­ment (TACDE) and Col­lege of Air War­fare (CAW). He has com­manded a MiG-21 Squadron, the TACDE, and a front­line fighter base. His staff ap­point­ments in­clude Ops 1A, Air-I at HQ WAC and Deputy Di­rec­tor Air Staff In­spec­tion, Di­rec­tor Op­er­a­tions (Joint Plan­ning) and As­sis­tant Chief of the Air Staff Op­er­a­tions (Of­fen­sive) at Air HQ and Se­nior Air Staff Of­fi­cer (SASO) at HQ South West­ern Air Com­mand (SWAC). The Air Mar­shal was AOC-in-C Eastern Air Com­mand (EAC) prior to his present ap­point­ment.

Air Mar­shal Anil Khosla is AOCin-C Eastern Air Com­mand

Air Mar­shal Anil Khosla has taken over as AOC- in- C, Eastern Air Com­mand. Com­mis­sioned into the fighter stream of the In­dian Air Force in De­cem­ber 1979, he has over 4,000 hours of ac­ci­dent free fly­ing, mainly on vari­ants of the Jaguar, MiG- 21 and HJT- 16 Ki­ran. He is an A2 cat­e­gory fly­ing in­struc­tor and a fighter strike leader, and has stood first in the or­der of merit in var­i­ous cour­ses he has at­tended: the Fly­ing In­struc­tor Course, Fighter Strike Lead­ers Course, Ju­nior Com­mand Course and Staff Course.

The Air Mar­shal has vast in­struc­tional ex­pe­ri­ence and has been Di­rect­ing Staff at the Tac­tics and Com­bat De­vel­op­ment Estab­lish­ment (TACDE) and Fly­ing In­struc­tor School (FIS). He has com­manded No. 6 Squadron ‘Dragons’ with the mar­itime strike Jaguar, and two front­line bases of the IAF at Jaisalmer and Am­bala. He was AOC HQ Mar­itime Air Op­er­a­tions and AOC Com­mand­ing J&K Area.
