Philippines select Super Tucano
The Philippines have placed firm orders for six Embraer A-29 light attack advanced training aircraft. The Philippine Air Force will use them for close air support, light attack, surveillance, air-to-air interception and counter-insurgency. According to the Brazilian manufacturer, the A-29 was chosen after a “comprehensive public bidding process participated in by several manufacturers from around the globe.” The Super Tucano was selected as part of the Phil. AF’s ongoing modernisation plan, the aircraft to be delivered from 2019 and will be operated by the 15th Strike Wing.
