Pampa for Uruguay

The Uruguayan Air Force (FAU) has eval­u­ated the 1A-63 Pampa III ad­vanced trainer. The FAU re­quires eight to twelve air­craft to re­place its A-37 and pos­si­bly the Pu­cará. In Au­gust 2016, FAU pi­lots also vis­ited China to eval­u­ate and fly the Hongdu L-15B lead-in fighter trainer (LIFT). In ad­di­tion to a po­ten­tial sale of the Pampa III to Uruguay, pro­pos­als have also been given to Bo­livia, Paraguay and South Africa’s Para­mount Group. The ROKN’s AW159s en­tered ser­vice in July 2017 and on 8 Novem­ber 2017, the Korean De­fence and Ac­qui­si­tion Pro­gramme Ad­min­is­tra­tion (DAPA) an­nounced plans to buy 12 ad­di­tional ASW he­li­copters val­ued at $768m. Con­tenders for the new he­li­copters com­prise the AW-159, Siko­rsky MH-60R and the NHIn­dus­tries NH90. The he­li­copters will also be armed with K745 Cheong San­geo (Blue Shark) light­weight tor­pe­does and depth charges.
