De­fence agree­ments be­tween In­dia and Rus­sia

Aslew of agree­ments be­tween In­dia and Rus­sia were re­port­edly signed at the De­fExpo 2018, which in­cluded on he­li­copters, naval sys­tems and com­bat ve­hi­cles. Ac­cord­ing to MoD sources, some 48 items cov­er­ing ma­jor plat­forms were iden­ti­fied for “mak­ing in In­dia” with Rus­sian col­lab­o­ra­tion. The mega In­dian pri­vate com­pany Larsen & Toubro signed deals for naval pro­grammes and for Fu­ture Ready Com­bat Ve­hi­cles (FRCV) as also co-pro­duc­tion of rock­ets in In­dia. Ananth Tech­nolo­gies signed an agree­ment for op­to­elec­tronic sight­ing and nav­i­ga­tion sys­tems for Su-30MKI air­craft. Ananth also signed an­other to set up tech­ni­cal and lo­gis­tics sup­port in In­dia for T-90S and T-72 MBTs in ser­vice with the Army. Rus­sia’s JSC AGAT signed agree­ments for af­ter-sale sup­port and mod­erni­sa­tion of the Fre­gat radar, in­stalled on In­dian naval ships.
