15 AAI-man­aged air­ports to be pri­va­tised

Ac­cord­ing to reliable re­ports, about 15 ‘prof­itable’ air­ports, presently man­aged by the Air­port Au­thor­ity of In­dia in­clud­ing those at Chen­nai and Ahmed­abad, could be put un­der pri­vate man­age­ment in the first such pri­vati­sa­tion ini­tia­tive by the Na­tional Demo­cratic Al­liance (NDA) gov­ern­ment. Ear­lier, the UPA gov­ern­ment had pri­va­tised In­dia’s two big­gest air­ports, at Mum­bai and Delhi, be­sides the two south­ern air­ports at Ban­ga­lore and Hy­der­abad. Amongst the air­ports now un­der con­sid­er­a­tion for pri­vati­sa­tion are Ahmed­abad, Jaipur, Kolkata and Luc­know, the plans be­ing pre­pared by NITI Aayog and the Depart­ment of Eco­nomic Af­fairs.
