Category : Sportswear & Equipment - Specialty Store Project : Sports Connect MERIT : Restore Solutions

While most retail environments are lifestyle-derived inspirations anchored around aspiration, Sports Connect decided to flip the approach where the space was completely inspired by sports. Designed by Restore Solutions, the store design and concept was completely rooted in sports, lifestyle and sporting activity. According to the design firm, the symbolic connotation of a track is unmistakable as a sporting entity, and hence an athletics track was chosen as the design language that would bind the space. This would be the signature element that gives identity to the Sports Connect stores. With a significant emphasis on branding, the store incorporates visuals and posters, making the space very lively and dynamic. For instance, the columns carry a ‘net’ graphic which acts as a strong sports element and helps to build the brand’s mission statement. As the focal design element in the store, the 25 ft footwear display wall creates a strong visual impact in a shopper's mind. The store design language uses the brand colour very strongly in the form of column cladding, seating units, signage and section headers. According to the design team, for a new store this works very well in reinforcing the brand
