While most re­tail en­vi­ron­ments are life­style-de­rived in­spi­ra­tions an­chored around as­pi­ra­tion, Sports Con­nect de­cided to flip the ap­proach where the space was com­pletely in­spired by sports. De­signed by Re­store So­lu­tions, the store de­sign and con­cept was com­pletely rooted in sports, life­style and sport­ing ac­tiv­ity. Ac­cord­ing to the de­sign firm, the sym­bolic con­no­ta­tion of a track is un­mis­tak­able as a sport­ing en­tity, and hence an ath­let­ics track was cho­sen as the de­sign lan­guage that would bind the space. This would be the sig­na­ture el­e­ment that gives iden­tity to the Sports Con­nect stores. With a sig­nif­i­cant em­pha­sis on brand­ing, the store in­cor­po­rates vi­su­als and posters, mak­ing the space very lively and dy­namic. For in­stance, the col­umns carry a ‘net’ graphic which acts as a strong sports el­e­ment and helps to build the brand’s mis­sion state­ment. As the fo­cal de­sign el­e­ment in the store, the 25 ft footwear dis­play wall cre­ates a strong vis­ual im­pact in a shop­per's mind. The store de­sign lan­guage uses the brand colour very strongly in the form of col­umn cladding, seat­ing units, sig­nage and sec­tion head­ers. Ac­cord­ing to the de­sign team, for a new store this works very well in re­in­forc­ing the brand
